Education:

I was educated in the Marsh Valley School system and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1973. I have taken several night classes at Idaho State University over the years including; small business management, mechanical drawing, blueprint reading, speech, algebra, electricity, welding, and many others.

I am running for the Idaho Senate in legislative district 28. I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself and outline reasons why I will be successful in this campaign.

I am a lifelong Bannock County resident and live in the McCammon area. I am the father of 3 children, 2 boys and a girl, and the grandparents of 2 boys and 3 girls. I’m fortunate that they all live and work in the area. I consider myself blessed to live in such a beautiful part of such a great state.

Agriculture has been the common denominator of my background since I was 5 years old. I currently run a 200 head cow-calf beef operation on about 1000 acres. I also own and operate a grocery store and storage rental units in McCammon. I learned the value of hard work from my parents at an early age and understand there is simply no substitute for a strong work ethic. My hands-on experience in small business and agriculture provides a solid foundation for wise decision-making.

My community involvement has included 5 years on the Marsh Valley School Board, youth baseball and basketball coach, and several years on the Inkom Cement Employees Credit Union Board. I currently serve on the McCammon Ditch Board, Portneuf Medical Center Board of Trustees, and on the Lava Foundation Board.

My work history reflects 5 years as a union journeyman carpenter, 13 years at Ashgrove Cement Company, 12 years as a self-employed rancher and business owner, and 6 years as Bannock County Commission Chairman. As commissioner I serve on many boards including the Regional Development Alliance, Pocatello Development Authority, Idaho Counties Risk Management Program, GemPlan, and the State Drug Court Coordinating Committee, to name a few.

I am a republican candidate who is currently very actively engaged in agriculture and business. We have employees, work hard, pay taxes, and understand the challenges Idaho citizens and businesses face in tough economic times. That coupled with my past government experience makes me uniquely qualified to deal with the complex issues facing Idaho’s legislature. I would appreciate your vote on November 2nd.
